Unless testing is done properly, the results are meaningless to the University Coach and Student-Athlete. In order to ensure a consistent environment, all our combines are run by trained professionals using state-of-the-art electronic timing equipment. The drills we use to test the student-athlete are considered a norm to University football programs throughout the country and they have a high direct correlation with a players' ability to perform well in football.

 
 
Listed below are combine scores from the best High School football players from around the country. The results are posted by position and were developed by the University Of Nebraska Strength and Conditioning program. In charge of the program was Michael J. Arthur, CSCS and Bryan L. Bailey, CSCS, who are the strength and conditioning coaches for the University of Nebraska. The two coaches published the results in their book entitled; "Complete Conditioning for FOOTBALL." If you have a chance, please read the book, it will definitely give you a better understand of the tests and how to develop workouts from the results.

The results of each combine test have been converted into norms using percentile rankings shown to the left side of each Performance Profile. A percentile indicates the point at which a certain percentage of scores falls either above or below the players performance score. For Example; a player receiving a percentile score of 80 knows that 20 percent of his teammates scored higher and 80 percent scored lower. This gives instant feedback to determine at which level each player on the team presently stands physically. (THE PLAYER SHOULD USE THESE SCORE TO IDENTIFY HIS WEAKNESSES AND BUILD A PROGRAM TO IMPROVED HIMSELF!) The performance profiles also allow a student-athlete to compare the quality of his performance among the different components. (The components are the tests themselves.) Using the performance profiles, the student-athlete can compare his speed, agility, and power rankings with those of other players and build component specific workouts to improve his rankings.

WORKOUT REVIEW --

Using the sample Defensive Back Profile below you can see that Tom's speed & agility are excellent and that his vertical jump is average. Following this guideline Tom needs to construct a program that would concentrate on developing his vertical jump. Tom's scores also identified his weakness in his speed, which is in the first 10 yards or his acceleration portion. Tom could also tailor his workouts to address this area. As you can see the results can really help you develop a workout that is going to give you the best opportunity for success!
